Teacher Becky Drury says she feigned death after being shot in Oregon school shooting
BBC reported that teacher Becky Drury, who was wounded during the Oct. 15 shooting at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend, Oregon, said she pretended to be dead after being shot. NBC News added that she had tried to shut the classroom door before the gunman entered. Police identified the 16-year-old attacker as John J. Griffin II, whose mother bought the shotgun used in the assault, according to NBC News. The shooter was subsequently killed by an armed civilian, CNN said.
The school was placed on lockdown and a reunification point was set up for families, KATU reported. The attack claimed the lives of three students and a teacher, and also killed five-year-old Rhoam Summer, the youngest victim ever in a U. S. school mass shooting, OregonLive. com noted. Two other children and a staff member escaped unharmed.
