Family of youngest Oregon school shooting victim calls for public tributes
CNN reported that the parents of 5-year-old Rhoam Summer, the youngest person ever killed in a U. S. school mass shooting, urged the public to draw in his memory. The shooting occurred on 15 October at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, where a 16-year-old former student opened fire, killing three children and a teacher before being shot dead by an armed civilian, according to CNN and the BBC. Police later identified the gunman as John J.
Griffin II, and NBC News and CBS News said his mother had purchased the Maverick 88 pump-action shotgun used in the attack. OregonLive confirmed that Summer was the youngest victim in a U. S. school mass shooting and added that two other children and a staff member escaped unharmed.
