49ers owner Jed York pleads no contest to misdemeanor charges
San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor offenses after an Ohio arrest, resulting in reduced charges, fines and a brief jail term.
San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York entered a no-contest plea to two misdemeanor counts following his arrest in East Palestine, Ohio. The original charge of "engaging in prostitution" was downgraded to misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and an additional misdemeanor for possessing criminal tools was added. York paid $1,150 in fines—$150 for disorderly conduct and $1,000 for the criminal-tools charge—and was sentenced to one day in jail for each count, with one day already served.
The arrest occurred at 9:35 a.m. on Sunday at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community, according to a police report that noted assistance from the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. Details beyond the report have not been released.
"This was routine for someone facing those types of charges in our area and not having a history of this type of criminal conduct in his past," said Columbiana County prosecutor Vito Abruzzino in an email response to inquiries.
The NFL said it is aware of the matter and will review it under its personal conduct policy. York, who has been the team's chief executive officer since 2008 and majority owner since 2024, is a native of Youngstown, Ohio.
