Leeds and Rangers co-owner Jed York sentenced to jail after Ohio prostitution arrest

Summary

Jed York, co-owner of Leeds United and Rangers and chief executive of the San Francisco 49ers, received concurrent one-day jail sentences after pleading no contest to disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools in Ohio.

Jed York, 45, who holds co-ownership stakes in English clubs Leeds United and Rangers and leads the San Francisco 49ers, was sentenced in Ohio to one day in jail for each of two offences, to be served concurrently, with credit for time already served. York entered a no-contest plea to charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools after police from a Human Trafficking Task Force arrested him for soliciting prostitution.

Court records show the case was initiated by the East Palestine Police Department and filed in Columbiana County Municipal Court. An expungement request filed on the same day was denied. The reduced charges stemmed from a plea agreement that downgraded the original allegation.

York’s involvement with the Scottish clubs is through 49ers Enterprises, the investment arm of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, but he does not manage the clubs’ daily operations. Both Rangers and Leeds declined to comment on the matter.

"As this is a legal matter, which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time," the 49ers said.
