San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York arrested in Ohio prostitution sting
Jed York, owner of the San Francisco 49ers, was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio, after a police sting operation and later pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges.
Body-camera footage released by the East Palestine Police Department shows Jed York, the San Francisco 49ers owner, being escorted from a silver SUV and handcuffed by officers of the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. The officers instructed him to exit the vehicle, place his hands on the car and spread his feet. When asked about his presence, York replied that he was "just driving" and denied meeting anyone.
York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution after police said he attempted to pay $160 for sex with a woman he believed to be a prostitute. Prosecutors later reduced the charge to disorderly conduct, and York also faced a misdemeanor for possessing tools used to respond to an online prostitution advertisement. He pleaded no contest to both counts, received a one-day jail sentence served concurrently, and was fined $1,150. The $160 payment was seized and given to the human-trafficking task force. York posted a $5,000 bond and was released.
The former Ohio resident, who spent the summer in the state where he grew up near Youngstown, had filed for divorce from his wife Danielle in May, according to court records. He completed an online remedial course as part of the plea agreement.
