49ers owner Jed York pleads no contest to Ohio misdemeanors after weekend arrest

Summary

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio, and pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools, receiving fines and a one-day jail sentence for each charge.

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York, 46, was taken into custody by the East Palestine Police Department on Sunday morning and later pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges: disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools. Court records show he was fined $1,150 and sentenced to serve one day in jail for each count, with the sentences served concurrently. A separate charge of engaging in prostitution was initially filed but subsequently dismissed.

York, whose maternal family is from Youngstown, Ohio, was arrested at 9:35 a.m. at a mobile home park in the village of East Palestine, about 30 minutes south of Youngstown. After the arrest, his cellphone was returned and he agreed to forfeit $160 seized by authorities to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. He later filed a request to have the case expunged from his record.

York, a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, has been the 49ers' chief executive officer since the end of the 2008 season and became the principal owner in 2024 after buying out his mother’s shares. He resides in Los Altos Hills with his wife and two children.

"The league is aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy," NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said.

The 49ers issued a brief statement indicating that, because the legal matter has been resolved, they will not provide further comment.
