San Francisco 49ers Owner Jed York Arrested in Ohio Prostitution Sting

Summary

Body-camera footage released by the East Palestine Police Department shows 49ers principal owner Jed York being handcuffed during an online prostitution sting, after which he pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and was fined and jailed for two days.

The East Palestine Police Department in Ohio released body-camera video of the arrest of San Francisco 49ers principal owner Jed York on Sunday during an online prostitution sting. Officers approached York’s vehicle, asked to see his hands and questioned his presence in the area. York responded that he was "just driving" before being handcuffed behind his back. The footage shows an officer counting money found in York’s wallet and describing the arrest as "easy," while another officer referred to York as "a real estate guy."

According to a police affidavit, York had texted a woman he believed to be a sex worker who was actually an undercover operative from a human-trafficking task force. York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution, but the charge was later reduced to disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools. He pleaded no contest, was ordered to pay $1,150 in fines and served two days in jail, with the sentences running concurrently.

The 49ers issued a brief statement noting that the legal matter had been resolved and declined further comment. York, who had been in Ohio for the summer, missed the NFL owners meeting on Wednesday, where team CEO Al Guido represented the franchise.
