North Carolina physical therapist missing after disappearing on Grenada beach

Resumen

Elizabeth Waddell, a 44-year-old physical therapist from North Carolina, was last seen on Grand Anse Beach in Grenada on May 24 and is the subject of a police missing-persons investigation.

Elizabeth "Liz" Waddell, a 44-year-old physical therapist from Cary, North Carolina, was reported missing after she was last seen on Grand Anse Beach in St. George’s, Grenada, on the evening of May 24. The Royal Grenada Police Force confirmed the disappearance and launched a search, urging fishermen, boat operators and local residents along the southern coastline to report any sightings.

Waddell, described by police as a medium-built woman about 5 feet tall with short blonde hair, was staying at a resort in the Grand Anse area. Her husband, Cailen Waddell, an operations manager for Cary’s parks and recreation department, posted a request on social media for assistance and expressed his expectation that she be found safely.

"My wife Liz is missing in Grenada. If any of you have connections to the island – can you please share the following with your contacts there?" "I am on my way there now to help search. I expect nothing less than Liz’s safe return – so please send your love, light, thoughts, and prayers our way," he wrote.

Police have not released further details about the circumstances of her disappearance. Waddell, who holds a doctorate in physical therapy from UNC Chapel Hill and runs a clinic in Cary, had recently posted about recovering from long-COVID and related health issues.

Authorities continue to seek information from the public as the investigation proceeds.
