Husband says family has exhausted search efforts for missing mother in Grenada

Summary

Cailen Waddell announced that his family has completed all possible actions in the search for his missing wife, Elizabeth Waddell, and that they will return to the United States while the police investigation continues.

Cailen Waddell posted on a GoFundMe page on Friday that his family has done everything they can in the search for his wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Waddell, who disappeared while swimming near Grand Anse Beach in Grenada nine days ago. He thanked Grenadian authorities for their response and noted that the police investigation will remain ongoing.

"We have done what we can here, and the investigation will continue," he wrote.

Waddell also expressed gratitude to the hundreds of GoFundMe donors, stating that their contributions have helped cover search-related expenses and that the family remains dependent on continued support.

"Your support has had a meaningful impact on our efforts here," he said.

In a personal note, Waddell recalled meeting Liz in 2003 at the American Dance Festival and described their long-term partnership. He shared a 2004 photograph taken at the North Carolina Aquarium, Roanoke Island, as a tribute to her personality.

The update followed a statement from Liz’s sister, Anna Watkins, who said she was leaving Grenada while the investigation remains open. Watkins described her emotional state and expressed hope that her sister will be found.

Elizabeth Waddell was last seen entering the water near Grand Anse Beach on Wednesday around noon, after walking toward the jetty at 11:45 a.m. Video released by the family shows her jumping into the sea and disappearing approximately five and a half hours later. She was on a 11-day Caribbean trip, having spent the first ten days exploring the island with a friend.
