Husband of missing North Carolina tourist says no foul play suspected in Grenada disappearance
Cailen Waddell, whose wife Elizabeth vanished while swimming off Grand Anse Beach, said investigations will focus on her movements and he does not believe foul play was involved.
Elizabeth Waddell, a 44-year-old visitor from North Carolina, disappeared on July 22 while swimming near Grand Anse Beach in Grenada. Security footage captured her walking toward a pier around 11:30 a.m., entering the water shortly after noon and later being seen swimming off the shore. Eyewitnesses reported seeing her again at about 5:30 p.m. farther from the beach.
Her husband, Cailen Waddell, released a statement saying the investigation will trace his wife's movements and that "no detail is too small." He added that, after consulting with family, local authorities, the U.S. Embassy and others, he joins officials in believing there was no foul play.
Police noted that a friend of the missing woman observed the surveillance video showing her "floating" and "swimming around" before she moved out of camera view. The Royal Grenada Police Force is urging anyone with information to contact authorities. The U.S. State Department confirmed it is aware of the case.
