Toronto police probe two separate Halloween candy tampering incidents
Toronto Police Service said it is investigating two separate cases in which sewing needles and pins were found in commercially packaged Halloween candy in the Upper Beaches and Leslieville neighbourhoods, and no injuries were reported. Earlier reports indicated that Toronto Police Service and Durham Regional Police were probing similar incidents and urged parents to inspect treats.
A 53-year-old Toronto resident who discovered the needles and pins in several candy bars warned other parents to check sweets carefully. Police in several provinces, including Ontario and Quebec, also issued warnings after reports of needles and a syringe in Halloween candy.
