NTSB Says Florida Jet Likely Disintegrated Before Fatal Crash
On 3 November, the National Transportation Safety Board said the Learjet 60 that crashed in Palm Beach County on 1 November likely disintegrated in flight, causing the fatal accident that killed nine people. The board’s preliminary report indicated that parts of the aircraft broke off before it struck a highway, leading to the loss of all aboard. The jet had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport bound for the Bahamas when it went down in a residential area of West Palm Beach County.
Nine fatalities were confirmed, including entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife, their two young children and six other passengers. The Federal Aviation Administration and the NTSB opened an investigation after the aircraft nose-dived into a neighborhood, narrowly missing nearby homes. Earlier reports from local authorities described the crash site on Military Trail and Cresthaven Boulevard and noted the absence of ground casualties.
