NTSB member says Learjet broke apart before impact, tail fragments found
NTSB member Tom Chapman said investigators found tail elevator fragments more than a mile from the Palm Beach County crash site, confirming the Learjet 60 broke apart before impact. The jet, a Learjet 60 carrying nine people, crashed on 1 November in a residential area of Palm Beach County, Florida, killing all aboard, according to CNN. The aircraft had been en route from Austin to the Bahamas, and the co-pilot reported a rapid, uncontrolled descent moments before impact, as reported by CBS News.
The FAA and NTSB opened a joint investigation, with Global News noting that debris continued to be recovered while nearby residents were displaced. Among the victims were Austin entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife, and their two young children, KUT reported.
