At least 30 killed in high-speed train crash near Urda
Spanish railway officials said that at least 30 people were killed when a high-speed train struck a stationary train near Urda, south of Madrid, on 28 October. The collision prompted the suspension of services on the Madrid-Andalusia line and emergency crews were dispatched to treat the injured.
Earlier reports had given a lower casualty figure, with some sources initially citing ten deaths. The accident involved trains operated by Renfe and Iryo on tracks managed by ADIF, and civil protection agencies coordinated the emergency response.
