Hebron Residents Offer Homes to Families Displaced by Israeli Operations
According to Al Jazeera, on 26 October local residents and philanthropists in Hebron began opening their homes to families forced to flee after the Israeli military’s large-scale operation in the city’s Ein Deir Baha district. The operation, which started on 24 October, involved Israeli forces sealing off parts of Hebron, demolishing dozens of homes and converting some Palestinian residences into military posts, displacing roughly 370 families and about 2,000 Palestinians, as reported by The Guardian and Al Jazeera. The demolition followed a checkpoint attack that killed two Israeli soldiers, which The Guardian said prompted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to pledge harsher security measures ahead of the election, according to NBC News.
