Ontario police warn parents to check Halloween candy after needle finds
The Ontario Provincial Police said on 3 November that parents should check Halloween candy for foreign objects after reports of sewing needles and a nail found in treats in Elliot Lake on 31 October. Earlier in the week, Toronto and Durham Region police launched investigations after residents discovered needles and pins in individually wrapped candy, and authorities in Quebec reported a syringe and other items, prompting a province-wide safety alert. These earlier incidents were part of a broader pattern of tampered Halloween confectionery across several provinces, leading police to urge heightened vigilance among families distributing or receiving treats.
