Washington judge throws out obstruction charge against ex-FBI officials
A Washington magistrate judge dismissed the obstruction charge against former FBI agents Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides on October 27, saying the overnight filing of the superseding complaint was unconventional. The judge rejected the Justice Department’s attempt to add an obstruction of justice count to the case.
The Justice Department had filed the superseding criminal complaint on October 23, expanding the earlier indictment that accused the two former officials of making false statements to Congress about the Hunter Biden laptop investigation. The original charges, announced earlier in October, alleged that Floris and Benavides lied to lawmakers and had subsequently surrendered to authorities.
