According to The Guardian, on October 25 President Donald Trump, at a Michigan rally backing Senate candidate Mike Rogers, praised Ohio Senator Jon Husted’s athletic build and made jokes about rapper Nicki Minaj, drawing cheers from the crowd. Earlier, CNN reported that Trump had praised Husted’s physique at a rural gathering in Ohio, prompting jokes from fellow Republicans. PBS noted that Trump evaluated the appearance of several candidates at recent campaign events, praising some and criticizing others.
Rolling Stone observed that Trump repeatedly commented on the looks of men he met during his midterm campaign rallies. The Independent quoted Husted saying the comments prompted him to focus on fitness, and a poll showed him trailing Democrat Sherrod Brown.
