Hennepin County Attorney files felony charges against O'Keefe and Higby

On 29 October, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty announced that James O’Keefe and Cameron Higby had been indicted on felony counts of unlawful voting and identity theft for misrepresenting themselves to poll workers during a filmed protest at a Minnesota voting site on Aug.  11.

The charges stem from a stunt in which the activists presented false identities to election officials at a Minneapolis polling place, a move prosecutors said was intended to highlight the state’s voter-identification law. Hennepin County prosecutors filed the felony charges after reviewing the video evidence of the impersonation.

What stands out to me is how this kind of stunt puts real voters at risk—especially those whose identities were used without consent. It’s not just a political game; it shakes trust in the system and leaves everyday people to deal with the fallout if their votes or records get messed up.
