CNN apologizes for using Dolly Parton impersonator photo in death coverage
CNN apologized on 30 August after a photo of Las Vegas tribute performer Kelly Vohnn was mistakenly shown in its coverage of Dolly Parton's death. The network said the image was used in a montage that aired that day. Earlier reports on 25 August noted the mistake.
Variety reported that CNN apologized to Dolly Parton's family for the error, while The Hollywood Reporter specified that the photo was of a Las Vegas tribute artist. E! News also covered the network's apology and the mix-up.
