Snohomish County Resident Affected in Multistate Listeria Outbreak Linked to Prepared Pasta Meals
A Snohomish County woman has been hospitalized due to a Listeria infection connected to a multistate outbreak traced to contaminated prepared pasta meals.
A woman from Snohomish County, Washington, has been hospitalized after contracting Listeria monocytogenes, marking the state's first reported case in a multistate outbreak linked to contaminated prepared pasta meals. Health officials confirmed that she is currently recovering.
The outbreak has been traced to pre-cooked pasta products produced by Nate's Fine Foods of Roseville, California. In September, the company recalled nearly 245,000 pounds of various pasta types, including linguine, fettuccine, and penne, which were distributed to producers of heat-and-eat meals and pasta salads. These products were sold at major grocery chains such as Walmart, Trader Joe's, and Kroger.
As of October 30, 2025, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports 27 cases across 18 states, resulting in six deaths. The most recent illnesses occurred in September and October, with the latest reported on October 16.
Consumers are advised to check their refrigerators and freezers for recalled products and to dispose of or return them to the place of purchase. Affected items include:
Sprouts Farmers Market: Smoked Mozzarella Pasta Salad with use-by dates from October 10 to October 29.
Walmart, Fred Meyer, or QFC:
- Home Chef Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo (12.5 oz) with best-by dates of June 19, 2025, or earlier.
- Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce (12 oz) with best-if-used-by dates of September 22, 24, 25, 29, 30, and October 1, 2025.
- Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine (12.3 oz) with best-by dates of June 26, 2025, or earlier; and (32.8 oz) with best-by dates of June 27, 2025, or earlier.
Listeriosis symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. The infection poses significant risks to individuals aged 65 and older, those with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women. In severe cases, it can lead to headaches, confusion, seizures, or loss of balance.
Health officials urge anyone experiencing these symptoms after consuming the recalled prepared meals to contact a healthcare provider immediately.
Federal health agencies, including the CDC, FDA, and USDA, are continuing to investigate the outbreak to determine if further contamination exists and to prevent additional illnesses.
