Delhi Enacts Stage-II GRAP Measures as AQI Peaks at 324
On 2 November, the Commission for Air Quality Management activated Stage-II of the Graded Response Action Plan across the National Capital Region after the air-quality index rose to 324, ordering road sweeping, water sprinkling and other anti-pollution measures. The move followed a sharp deterioration in Delhi’s air quality earlier in the week. On 28 October, the Central Pollution Control Board recorded an AQI above 300, the first “very poor” reading of the season, and warned that conditions could worsen ahead of Diwali.
A day later the 24-hour average fell to 261, prompting initial anti-pollution steps. Heavy rain later temporarily lowered the index to 78 and brought cooler temperatures, but the improvement was short-lived as smog returned.
