Bureau of Meteorology issues severe thunderstorm warnings across Queensland and NSW
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southeast Queensland on 2 November, citing large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain that could cause flash flooding. The warning came as a low-pressure system moved eastward, heightening flash-flood risk after recent rains.
On 31 October the bureau had warned that a cold front would bring heavy rain, hail and winds exceeding 125 km/h to Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane. A tornado in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales prompted a watch-and-act alert and safety advisories from the NSW Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Services.
