Washington Attorney General and DOJ Set to Clash Over Non-Citizen Voter List
The Acting U. S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington will accuse state officials of failing to verify citizenship, and Secretary of State Steve Hobbs will denounce the Justice Department’s request to segregate ballots as “garbage” during a press conference in Seattle on October 31, 2026. Earlier, federal prosecutors announced a Seattle press conference to release data on alleged non-citizen registrations.
The Justice Department subsequently asked Washington to withhold ballots from more than 400 suspected non-citizen voters, and later reported that over 400 non-citizens were found on the voter rolls, with about 1,500 ballots cast by them. Washington officials rejected the demand, saying the list included U. S. citizens and inactive registrants, and Hobbs warned that the list was unreliable and contained many citizens.
