Judge warns DOJ against raid in Comey case
U. S. District Judge Trevor McFadden warned the Justice Department on 30 October that a predawn raid on former FBI Director James Comey could be frustrated, as the court considered a third criminal information against him in Washington, D. C.
The Justice Department filed the third criminal information on 26 October, accusing Comey of directing the disclosure of national defence information in 2016 and noting that the filing bypassed a grand jury, court documents showed. Comey's lawyers argued that the charge should be dismissed as time-barred under the ten-year statute of limitations, while the department maintained that the case remains viable, according to statements from the Justice Department. CNBC reported that the indictment marked Comey's third federal charge, and Al Jazeera added that the charges constitute the third criminal action taken against him since President Donald Trump returned to office in 2025.
