El 30 de octubre, el juez federal de EE. UU. Trevor McFadden advirtió al Departamento de Justicia que un allanamiento antes del amanecer contra el exdirector del FBI James Comey podría resultar frustrado, mientras el tribunal en Washington, D. C.

evaluaba una tercera información criminal contra él. El Departamento de Justicia presentó la tercera información criminal el 26 de octubre, acusando a Comey de dirigir la divulgación de información de defensa nacional en 2016 y señalando que la presentación evitó la intervención de un gran jurado, según documentos judiciales. Los abogados de Comey argumentaron que el cargo debe ser desestimado por estar fuera del plazo de diez años, mientras que el Departamento de Justicia sostuvo que el caso sigue siendo viable, según declaraciones del propio Departamento.
