Western Canadian Provinces Adopt Year-Round Daylight Saving Time
Provincial officials announced that British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories and parts of northwestern Ontario will keep daylight-saving time year-round, leaving most of central and eastern Canada to revert to standard time on Nov. 1.
The decision follows earlier announcements that the same western jurisdictions would adopt permanent daylight time, prompting health experts to caution that later winter sunrises could disrupt sleep and reduce productivity. Ontario will split into two zones, with most of the province turning clocks back while the northwestern region remains on daylight time.
