Ontario divides into two time zones as daylight saving ends
CBC reported that Ontario split into two time zones as daylight-saving time ended over the weekend, with most of the province setting clocks back an hour and the northwestern region remaining on daylight time. Earlier reports described a patchwork of decisions across Canada. The Weather Network noted that British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, parts of northwestern Ontario and the Northwest Territories would keep summer time year-round, while the rest of the country continued the biannual clock changes.
National Post added that Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories and Yukon would not turn clocks back later in the year, whereas most of Ontario, the Atlantic provinces and much of Quebec would revert to standard time. Health researchers cited by CBC and other outlets warned that permanent daylight time and the twice-yearly shift could disrupt sleep, increase health risks and affect productivity across Canada.
