Space reported that NASA announced the termination of the Swift telescope's mission on 27 October after a private rescue effort failed, with re-entry expected within weeks. Earlier, NASA had ended scientific observations on 20 October, concluding nearly two decades of gamma-ray burst and supernova monitoring and placing the observatory into safe mode. India Today noted that the satellite would re-enter Earth’s atmosphere in the coming weeks, while ThePrint highlighted that the mission’s final observations marked the end of more than 20 years of space science.
