Former RAAF pilot pleads not guilty in wife's murder trial
Robert John Crawford, a former Royal Australian Air Force squadron leader, pleaded not guilty on 27 October in the Supreme Court of Queensland, while prosecutors said the killing of his wife Frances Crawford was motivated by financial gain and staged as an accident. The trial began on 19 October, when the court heard that Frances Crawford’s body had been found on the couple’s Upper Lockyer property in July 2024.
Crawford, charged with murder, is represented by defence counsel Saul Holt KC, who argues the death was an accident. Crown prosecutor Chris Cook is scheduled to deliver the opening address.
