Former RAAF pilot pleads not guilty at Queensland murder trial
Robert John Crawford, a former Royal Australian Air Force pilot, pleaded not guilty as his murder trial began before a Supreme Court jury in Brisbane on 19 October, with Crown prosecutor Chris Cook slated to deliver the opening address. Prosecutors contend that Crawford killed his wife Frances Crawford to obtain a financial benefit and staged the incident as an accident after evidence of infidelity emerged. The case stems from the discovery of Frances Crawford’s body on the couple’s Upper Lockyer property in July 2024, and Crawford is being represented by defence counsel Saul Holt KC.
