King Charles Arrives in Nassau to Launch Nine-Day Caribbean Tour
Royal Central reported that on 20 October King Charles III arrived in Nassau wearing a striped shirt and tie, officially opening his nine-day Caribbean tour. The tour, which was announced to include stops in the Bahamas, Guyana and Antigua and Barbuda, has been met with protests and calls from Commonwealth leaders and Caribbean officials for a British apology and reparations for the transatlantic slave trade. BBC reported that during his first stop King Charles said it was right to recognise past injustices and highlighted the climate challenges facing low-lying islands.
News. com. au said extensive contingency planning was undertaken to manage diplomatic and public-relations risks, including republican sentiment in the region.
