Democrats lead Republicans by 11 points in new national poll
On 22 October, a poll released by the New York Times and Siena University and reported by MS NOW found Democrats ahead of Republicans by 11 points nationally, with voters giving the Democrats advantages on health care, cost of living, foreign wars and artificial intelligence. Earlier that week, multiple polls showed President Donald Trump’s approval at record lows—31% in a Reuters/Ipsos survey released on 19 October and 34% in an NBC News Decision Desk poll—while Democrats maintained double-digit leads in generic midterm ballots.
Fox News reported that inflation and cost-of-living concerns dominated voter priorities, and CNBC found that 80% of Americans viewed the economy as fair or poor. A Strength In Numbers/Verasight poll indicated a majority of voters preferred a Democratic-leaning Congress to check the president’s agenda.
