Apple unveiled oversized iPhone Duo displays at flagship stores worldwide
Apple installed oversized iPhone Duo displays at its flagship stores in New York, London, Mumbai and Shanghai on 22 October, showcasing the new model ahead of its 23 October launch. The rollout followed a series of pre-order preparations that began on 12 October when Apple opened a “Get Ready” window allowing customers to configure specifications and payment options. Subsequent updates showed delayed shipping estimates into late January for those who missed the earliest window, and Apple instructed store staff to warn walk-in customers that purchases without a pre-order were unlikely to be fulfilled.
Analyst Mark Gurman criticized the decision to start pre-orders despite anticipated limited inventory. Apple later advanced delivery dates for some orders in the United States and Japan, and imposed a two-unit limit per customer in several markets to curb scalping. The company also limited in-store pickup to reservations in Japan and South Korea and announced that only a small number of units would be available for walk-in purchase at select locations.
