Apple opened iPhone Duo pre-orders despite supply constraints, analyst says
Apple in the United States drew criticism on 18 October when analyst Mark Gurman said the company had opened iPhone Duo pre-orders despite knowing that inventory would be limited. The criticism follows Apple’s earlier rollout of a “Get Ready” service that let customers configure specifications and payment details ahead of the official pre-order window that began on 16 October, and internal instructions to store staff on 12 October to warn walk-in shoppers that purchases without a pre-order were unlikely to be fulfilled. Subsequent reports indicated that customers who missed the earliest window were given delivery estimates for late January, well after the device’s 23 October launch.
