Irish police seek Jordanian asylum seeker suspected of killing New York mother in Killarney
The Irish police are searching for Ahmad Al-Saqer, a 28-year-old Jordanian asylum seeker, after he was identified as a suspect in the killing of New York mother Jamey Carney in Killarney, Ireland. The New York Post reported that Carney’s body was discovered by her daughter and that a post-mortem indicated death by suffocation. Police said they had linked the crime to Al-Saqer, her boyfriend, who left Ireland shortly after the killing.
According to the Post, his passport was returned following a subsidiary protection ruling, and he travelled to Istanbul, prompting a manhunt that could extend to the Middle East. Fox News noted that Interpol, Europol and Turkish officials joined the search, while critics pointed to the lack of a public suspect description. The New York Post added that Al-Saqer had asked Carney for about $5,700 a week before she was found dead.
