Irish police investigate murder of New York mother found dead in Killarney home
Jamey Carney, a 43-year-old New York native living in Ireland, was found dead in her Killarney rental. Police have identified her boyfriend, Ahmad Al-Saqer, as a person of interest and say he left the country shortly after the killing.
Irish authorities are investigating the death of Jamey Carriage, a 43-year-old New York native who was found dead in a rented home in Killarney, County Kerry. The victim's 13-year-old daughter discovered the body on Tuesday after alerting a family friend, prompting police to respond.
Carriage had posted a photograph on social media three days earlier, celebrating Independence Day with her boyfriend, Ahmad Al-Saqer, 28, who is now considered a person of interest in the case. The image showed the couple in front of a digitally created Times Square backdrop, with Carriage wearing a Knicks shirt and Al-Saqer a Giants shirt.
According to police sources, Al-Saqer, who arrived in Ireland in 2024 seeking asylum, is suspected of beating Carriage to death before traveling from Killarney to Dublin and then flying to Istanbul. Investigators are also looking into possible contacts the suspect may have had in Turkey and France, where he previously resided, as well as a prior stay in the United Kingdom.
The investigation noted a disturbance reported at the residence on Monday evening, hours before the alleged attack. Autopsy findings indicated severe head injuries. Police have confirmed that Al-Saqer has left Ireland and may be planning further travel from Turkey to the Middle East.
