Truth Social to Offer Real-Time API Feed of President's Posts to Institutional Investors
Trump Media announced a new API that will give Wall Street firms millisecond-level access to posts from President Donald Trump and other high-engagement accounts, aiming to create a recurring revenue stream.
Trump Media & Technology Group said it will launch a subscription-based API that provides institutional customers with real-time access to posts from the ten most-engaged Truth Social accounts, including President Donald Trump, starting Aug. 1. The service is marketed as a "direct, licensed, real-time feed of the platform’s most market-moving Truths" and is intended to generate a high-margin, recurring revenue stream for the company.
Kevin McGurn, interim chief executive officer of TMTG, said the offering reflects the fact that "Markets already move on Truth Social posts" and that the faster-access feed will help monetize the platform’s proprietary assets. Wall Street trading desks that employ algorithmic strategies could use the millisecond-level data to execute trades ahead of broader market participants.
The company did not disclose pricing for the API. It noted that previous attempts to scrape data from Truth Social violated its terms of service. Shares of TMTG fell about 1.5% in afternoon trading and are down nearly 30% year-to-date. CNN has requested comment from the White House.
