Apple Settles $250 Million Lawsuit Over Delayed Siri AI Features

Summary

Apple has agreed to a $250 million settlement to resolve claims that it misled consumers about the availability of AI enhancements to its Siri voice assistant.

Apple has agreed to pay $250 million to settle a class-action lawsuit alleging the company misled consumers regarding the availability of artificial intelligence enhancements to its Siri voice assistant. The lawsuit claimed that Apple promoted AI capabilities that were not available at the time of the iPhone 16's release in September 2024.

The settlement covers U.S. customers who purchased iPhone 16 models, as well as iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models, between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Eligible consumers may receive payments ranging from $25 to $95 per device, depending on the number of claims submitted.

In a statement, Apple said:

"Apple has reached a settlement to resolve claims related to the availability of two additional features. We resolved this matter to stay focused on doing what we do best, delivering the most innovative products and services to our users."

The settlement is pending approval by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
