U.S. officials allege Nvidia CEO’s ties to Chinese intelligence recruitment
U. S. intelligence officials said on November 8 that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had a relationship with a woman believed to have been recruited by China’s Ministry of State Security, and both the White House and Nvidia declined to comment, officials said in Washington. The allegation follows a series of congressional inquiries that began on November 5, when three House committee chairs — Brian Mast, John Moolenaar and Rick Crawford — wrote to Huang requesting a closed-door briefing on his contacts with a Chinese executive identified as a foreign intelligence asset.
The request, slated for a November 18 meeting, came after U. S. intelligence reports said the Ministry of State Security had recruited a Singapore-based Megaspeed executive to gather information on Nvidia and its AI chips, and a memo released before President Donald Trump’s summit with Xi Jinping indicated Huang had met the operative.
