Iranian Admiral Warns of Heightened Deterrence as US Launches Task Force Iron Gate
Iranian Rear Admiral Mohsen Razzaqi said on 8 November that Iran's naval, missile and drone forces are on constant alert, after U. S. Central Command announced the formation of Task Force Iron Gate to curb Iran's ground transit of weapons and related materials. U. S. Central Command had unveiled the new task force on 7 November, basing it in Tampa, Florida, to target the movement of advanced weapons, dual-use technology and illicit revenue across Iran's land borders and the Caspian Sea.
The same day, a U. S. military aircraft fired precision munitions at a St. Kitts-flagged cargo vessel attempting to leave the Gulf of Oman, and President Trump said U. S. forces had recently disabled an Iranian anti-aircraft system.
