US air strikes hit Qeshm Island as Qatar-mediated talks continue
The United States carried out air strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island, and President Donald Trump said that Qatar-mediated diplomatic talks were progressing. The strikes targeted an Iranian air-defence site, intensifying the recent exchange of fire in the Strait of Hormuz, and the president described the operation as a limited response.
Earlier in the same period, Iranian state media reported hearing five explosions on Qeshm Island and in the nearby port of Bandar Lengeh, and later said two missiles struck the Suza area of the island. President Trump had previously announced a limited strike on an Iranian air-defence system, calling it minor.
