NY State child dies of measles as CDC alert delayed
On 3 November, New York State officials said a child in Lewis County died of measles and that CDC scientists had been blocked from issuing an urgent health alert about measles in pregnancy. The death, confirmed by Governor Kathy Hochul, was the first measles-related fatality in the state in more than three decades. State health authorities had reported 178 measles cases earlier in the year and were urging vaccination.
