According to 247Sports, Florida State University announced on its Tallahassee campus that it is launching a search for a new head football coach after terminating Mike Norvell. The university had dismissed Norvell after a 63-3 Orange Bowl loss and a three-year record of 10-23, paying a $50 million buyout, as reported by CBS Sports and WCTV.

The move came amid financial challenges for the program, noted by CBS Sports. A survey of recruiting reporters and college football personnel later found the vacancy still attractive despite recent conference realignments, while more than a dozen Florida high-school coaches offered candidate suggestions, according to 247Sports.
