Severe Cyclonic Storm Murasu Hits Andhra Pradesh, Power Remains Intact
The India Meteorological Department said Severe Cyclonic Storm Murasu struck the Andhra Pradesh coast on 3 November, delivering strong winds and heavy rain but leaving the power grid unaffected. Earlier, the agency warned that a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal could intensify into a cyclone, prompting Odisha to issue a high alert and begin evacuations, while Telangana received orange and yellow alerts for several districts. Six National Disaster Response Force teams and seven State Disaster Response Force units were positioned in Andhra Pradesh districts ahead of the expected landfall near Ongole, where winds of 100-120 km/h were forecast.
