U.S. Expels Cuban UN Diplomat After Heated Assembly Clash
The United States expelled Cuban first secretary Richard Tur de la Concepción after a heated confrontation at the United Nations General Assembly on 27 October, Newser reported, saying the expulsion took place at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The expulsion followed a clash earlier in the session in which U. S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz told Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla to step back after the Cuban diplomat tried to interrupt his remarks, and the two exchanged accusations on the Assembly floor.
The dispute occurred as the General Assembly voted 130-17 to condemn the U. S. embargo on Cuba, Al Jazeera said.
