Brazil's Liberal Party Accepts Lula's Win as Bolsonaro Continues Legal Challenge
Brazil's Liberal Party said it recognized President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's election victory, while Senator Flávio Bolsonaro has not conceded and is pursuing legal challenges, NPR reported. Earlier on 25 October, voters cast ballots in a runoff that gave Lula 51. 79% of the vote, making him the first president since 1985 to be re-elected after a first-round loss, BBC noted. Reuters confirmed the result and added that Bolsonaro filed a petition to annul the win.
Al Jazeera said U. S. President Donald Trump described the vote as “rigged” but claimed he was not taking sides.
