Early voting exceeds 43 million, Democrats lead in key states
The BBC reported that early voting in the United States surpassed 43 million ballots, with Texas leading the surge and Hispanic voters driving higher participation as the 2026 midterm election approaches. Earlier, WESH noted that more than 41 million early votes had been cast, while Newsweek said the total had risen to over 28 million, with Texas topping the list.
ABC News highlighted that Democrats held a larger share of early ballots in battleground states such as Georgia and Iowa. NPR quoted MIT political scientist Charles Stewart warning that the early-vote surge might not translate into higher overall turnout.
