U.S. State Department raises travel alerts for 13 Middle Eastern countries
On 27 October, the U. S. State Department updated travel advisories for 13 Middle Eastern nations, placing five on the highest alert level and urging citizens to reconsider trips to eight others. Earlier, CBS News reported that Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton warned Iran had intensified plots against U. S.
personnel abroad, and Fox News said a classified briefing to Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed the same threat. The BBC noted that the State Department ordered certain diplomatic staff and their families to leave Saudi Arabia after Houthi missile and drone strikes killed three people at an airport and an oil field. Yahoo had earlier reported a reduction of U. S. troop presence in the region amid rising threats.
