Airbnb said in San Francisco that it has banned hosts from requiring guests to perform extensive cleaning tasks, such as stripping beds or taking out trash, a change that has drawn mixed reactions from hosts. The new rule follows earlier announcements that the short-term-rental platform would prohibit hosts from imposing checkout chores and would require all house rules to be disclosed before booking.

Earlier reports said the policy, effective for bookings made on or after Nov.  20, would limit requests to modest duties normally handled by professional cleaners, such as washing dishes or doing laundry, and would apply to all listings.
